How to test PVC pipe and fittings after installation?

Publish Time: 2024-06-06
After the installation of PVC pipe and fittings, a series of tests are required to ensure its quality and safety. The following are the specific steps and precautions for testing PVC pipe and fittings after installation:

1. Preparation before testing

Confirm the installation quality: First, check whether the installation of the pipeline meets the relevant specifications and design requirements, including the laying, support, and connection of the pipeline.

Prepare test equipment: Prepare necessary test equipment, such as pressure gauges, water pumps, water pipes, etc., and ensure that these equipment are in good working condition.

Set up the test area: Clearly define the test area and set up warning signs to prevent accidents during the test.

2. Test steps

Connect the test equipment: Connect the test equipment to the PVC pipe and fittings system to ensure that the connection is firm and there is no leakage.

Filling: Open the water inlet valve of the pipeline system and fill water into the pipeline. Filling should be done slowly, and observe whether the pipeline system has leakage.

Exhaust: After the pipeline system is filled with water, open the exhaust valve to exhaust the air in the pipeline. Exhaust should be done multiple times to ensure that there is no residual air in the pipeline.

Pressure increase: Close the exhaust valve and the water inlet valve, and use a water pump to slowly increase the pressure. During the pressure increase process, observe whether the pipeline system has any abnormal phenomena, such as leakage, deformation, etc.

Pressure stabilization: When the pipeline system rises to the specified test pressure, stop pressurizing and stabilize the pressure for a period of time (usually 1 hour). During this period, observe the pressure changes in the pipeline system to ensure that the pressure drop does not exceed the specified value (usually 0.05MPa).

Working pressure test: After the pressure stabilization is completed, reduce the pressure of the pipeline system to 1.15 times the working pressure and stabilize the pressure for 2 hours. Also observe the pressure changes and leakage of the pipeline system.

III. Post-test processing

Record test results: Record various data during the test in detail, including pressure increase time, pressure stabilization time, pressure changes, etc.

Handle leakage problems: If leakage is found during the test, stop the test immediately, find out the cause of the leakage, and take corresponding repair measures.

Clean up the site: After the test, clean up the test site and restore the normal use of the pipeline system.

Through the testing of the above steps, the quality and safety of PVC pipe and fittings after installation can be ensured, providing guarantee for the normal operation of the pipeline system.
